I’ve raved about Becky Selengut’s recipes from Good Fish: Sustainable Seafood Recipes from the Pacific Coast, including her:
roasted black cod with bok choy and soy-caramel sauce,
wild arctic char with roasted cauliflower and apple-vanilla vinaigrette,
roasted wild salmon in pinot noir sauce,
wild halibut escabèche with anchovies and almond salsa verde,
But now’s YOUR chance to win a copy of the cookbook and never be tongue-tied at the fishmonger or grocery store seafood section again! Geoduck? Yes, you too can know what that phallic mammal is. Seared scallops? Perfect every time. Most importantly, what to buy and what NOT to buy so that we’ll still be eating fish in 20 years.
How it works:
All you have to do is go to my new Multiculturiosity facebook page and become a fan. Then leave a comment on this blog post either saying hello or, if you’re really keen, you can tell me if you prefer 1 fish, 2 fish, red fish or blue fish and why). All the names of fans/commenters will go into a hat and I’ll draw a winner randomly on February 9, 2012, BUT those with creative answers will get their name in the hat twice. You have until February 8 at midnight to enter, so hop (swim?) to it!
And check out my interview with Good Fish: Sustainable Seafood Recipes from the Pacific Coast author Becky Selengut on CKUT 90.3FM that will air Friday, February 3rd at 7:09am (or download the link after it airs – I’ll post it on the blog). We talk chef-worthy and beginner recipes, geoduck, sustainability, and Seattle vs. Montreal seafood. Seattle, of course, wins. Sorry to spoil it for you.

Figured one of your friends had to go there… and I got here first. 😉

Haha! Of course!

I like all fish because, “Not one of them is like another.
Don’t ask us why, go ask your mother.”
MissWattson says
Great rhyme!

Some are sad.
Some are glad.
I want Good Fish to teach me how to not make them mad.
(And I love seared scallops, oysters, salmon, halibut cheeks and just about any other fish I’ve tried that was prepared well! I have yet to try geoduck because, well, I’ve seen geoduck and can’t quite get over the visual.)
MissWattson says
That makes two of us, Kathleen.
Kathleen says
Glad to know I’m not the only one. I’ve eaten a lot in my life (including various sheep parts in Siberia), but man, it’s a whole new dimension for me…
Jen (yup, another one) says
Blue – it’s my favorite color. (Agh! I am trying so hard to think of something creative but my creativity, like Elvis, has left the building.)
MissWattson says
Also my favourite colour! It could get you an extra name in the hat! But then everyone might say that and I’d have to be fair about it…hmm…
