Remember when I mentioned I as going to be a speaker at a Concordia University of the Streets Cafe about food intolerances? Well here’s a little write-up in the Free Press about the event, and a photo. We got great feedback from the attendees, who were mostly food intolerance sufferers, not food intolerance doubters. So they were encouraged by the speakers (one fancy chef, one bottom of the barrel blogger, one glowing raw foodist) to seek out enjoyment in food, no matter what their limitations. One man was looking for suggestions on what to cook with his intolerant girlfriend and another even stopped me at Jean-Talon metro the next day to say thanks for my words. It was really touching. I just wish more non-believers (those who think food intolerances are hooey – why can’t we just get off our high horses about our ever-changing bodily needs?) had come and shared their two cents. I wouldn’t have been evangelical, and it’s always good to have a dialogue.
So if you’re one of those people and you’re reading this, please leave a comment and lets start a conversation right here about food intolerances. Or if you want another person’s summary of the evening, check out the article in the later pages of the Nov. 27th Free Press.
