Joline D’Entremont used to be the delivery driver of Evan’s Fresh Seafood in Montreal. Every Saturday morning she would meet her trucker friend Gilbert in Montreal at the end of his trip from Nova Scotia the day before where he loaded up his truck at fish plants around the province. Joline’s father, Evan, the last independent fisherman in his area in Nova Scotia, sent a little extra fish up to his daughter with Gilbert, maybe eight or so boxes of freshly-caught wild haddock, cod, pollock, and farmed trout and frozen scallops from other local fishermen. Up until about a month ago Joline would sell this fish to a few select fruit and vegetables grocers in Montreal.
